Kick me for saying this: Virgin Airlines also has cartoon safety videos.

I love that feeling of going from one place to another so quickly, without so much as a nap. It can seem like you've landed on another planet.

on average, how much taller are you and mom than everyone else

So far I haven't met anyone in the country taller than me, though it's not as drastic as it could be. I suspect China will be more extreme.

Just returned from Japan. Yes, the people are really nice and friendly. People go out of their way to help you orient yourself. No pun intended. The cleanliness of the streets in the big cities impressed me no end. The feeling of safety was so refreshing. We travel some and aways there is that worry about thievery. Not in Japan.......how do they do that? I have always loved the aesthetics of Japan also, and was thrilled to see so much of what I have always admired. For me, the most gorgeous spot was The Golden Pavilion in Kyoto because the intense fall colors were juxtaposed against the gleaming gold leaf of the Pavilion. Heaven on earth!!
