Would a weekend drop-in make sense?

I wonder if taking weekend jaunts to Germany or Italy during the two weekends I have when I'm in Zurich would make sense. I've never been there and would like to get a taste - on the other hand, I'm not going to be able to soak in much in a handful of hours in each city. I'd love to get feedback on this.
